About the Nambiti Game Reserve

Situated only 3.5 hours from Johannesburg and 3 hours from Durban, 23 km east of Ladysmith in the extraordinarily beautiful and geographically diverse KwaZulu-Natal, situated on 21,000 acres, lies Nambiti Big 5 Game Reserve. This luxury safari reserve is within easy reach of the central Drakensberg and many of the historic battlefields. The malaria-free virgin bushveld area with its mixed vegetation of savannah grasslands, indigenous trees and shrubs is home to the Big Five as well as offering the ideal habitat for a large variety of antelope, smaller game species and an abundant birdlife.

History of Nambiti Private Game Reserve

The Nambiti Game Reserve was born in 2000. Working closely with conservationists and wildlife experts, the original cattle farm fences were removed, alien vegetation cleared and the now game fenced reserve was restocked.

Along with the endemic species driven out by farming practices, the Big Five and many other game species were introduced.

In 2005, a Development Application was made to develop lodges on the Reserve. More farms were absorbed into the Reserve in the proceeding years.

In 2007 the shareholders were informed of a land claim on the property which was happily settled by 2009. The community are now actively involved in the management and future development of the Reserve.
